Konfrst Slams Nunn’s Vote to Gut Healthcare for Iowans

Windsor Heights, IA - State Representative and IA-03 candidate Jennifer Konfrst slams Congressman Zach Nunn's vote to cut healthcare and raise costs on Iowans across the district.

“More than 27,000 Iowans in the Third District are going to lose their healthcare because of Zach Nunn. Because of Zach Nunn, nearly 350 rural hospitals will be at risk of closure and more than half of nursing homes say they would be forced to cut beds– more than a quarter say they’d be forced to close.

Zach Nunn just voted to raise costs on working Iowans, kill millions of jobs, and for that largest gutting of Medicaid in history– all to pay for tax breaks for his billionaire donors.

I’ve been all over this district doing what Zach Nunn won’t: actually sitting down with Iowans and listening to them. And everywhere I go, Iowans are scared about losing healthcare access. We know what happens when a community loses their hospital. When I met with providers at Clive Behavioral Health, they told me 60% of their patients are on Medicaid. When I met with the hospital administrator at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, they told me how hard it would be to keep their doors open without Medicaid.

Iowans deserve better than someone who’s selling us out. I’ve fought like hell against cuts to our healthcare in the statehouse and I’m ready to keep fighting in Congress.”
